In her words
One day when I went to buy groceries at a store..I came across an old man, a middle aged lady and a young girl who were begging for food essentials at the same store.. That’s when I called them to a side and enquired about their situation and they said they were daily wagers and they ran out of money due to this lock-down. They didn’t even receive govt help as their ration cards were at their home towns and they could not get them since public transportation has been shut down. After knowing that hunger has forced themselves to beg I felt deep pain in my heart and I decided to buy them some groceries.
I gave them food essentials packet which comprises of
- Rice-5kgs
- Toor dal -1kg
- Oil packet -1 litre
- Chilli powder packet
- Turmeric packet
- Tamarind
- Tea powder packet
- Sugar 1/2 kg
Since they couldn’t afford the basic survival commodities thousands of hungry migrant workers had to walk hundreds of kilometers and reached their home towns. I know I may not help everyone.. but that shouldn’t stop me to extend the little help that I can do to such hungry people in my vicinity. So I prepared more packets of food essentials and started distributing them… where ever I go I fall short of packets and many more needy will always be left behind. I make a note of people or I will get information from one person from that locality about the needy and I will get ready for one more round of distribution..
This would have not been possible without help and support from my family, friends and colleagues.
